Todd Schulz Memorial
In Memoriam
On May 29, 2023, our dear friend and colleague, Todd Schulz, passed away at age 59 from a rare form of colon cancer.
Todd was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and a lifelong member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).
For 33 years, we were blessed to have Todd as a leader in our Weather Tight family. We will greatly miss his commitment to homeowners and the business, his positive attitude and sense of humor.
A few years ago, Weather Tight became an employee-owned company and we’ve been blessed with nearly 100 employee-owners who, as Todd would say, “are a well-oiled machine.” The team is working hard to continue to provide our customers with the exceptional service Weather Tight is known for.
In his memory, we’re continuing to share “Tod & Todd’s Home Improvement Tips” on our website and YouTube channel. You can watch the videos here and see a fun behind-the-scenes reel of Tod & Todd in action. If you’d like to know more about Todd Schulz, you can read his bio below.
Todd Schulz Bio
Weather Tight Corp. Vice President Todd Schulz was widely known as one half of the “Tod and Todd” team. Schulz came to Weather Tight in 1990 as a sales manager and approximately three years later was named vice president. In 2011, Schulz joined Weather Tight President Tod Colbert on the airwaves and in 2014 the duo’s “Tod & Todd’s Home Improvement Tips” TV ads debuted. The pair quickly became recognized for their regular on-air segments and the company’s “Home Makeover Sweepstakes.”
Schulz grew up in Greenville, Wisconsin, and was a lifelong member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). His career in remodeling started at age 15 when he took a summer job working for a local building contractor in the Fox Valley. He kept his summer position and, at age 17, added another job at Wickes Lumber and continued both jobs throughout his high school and college years. He graduated from Fox Valley Lutheran High School in 1982 and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh in 1987.
After college, Schulz moved to the Milwaukee area with his wife when he accepted a position with Midwest Energy Specialists, a local exterior remodeler. A few years later, Tod Colbert, who founded Weather Tight in 1986, was looking to expand his business and hired Schulz to handle sales. It didn’t take long for the two to realize they shared similar values, goals and dreams of what they wanted Weather Tight to become. Today, Weather Tight is one of the most-recognized home remodeling companies in southeastern Wisconsin.
Schulz’s deep faith guided both his professional and personal life and led to his ongoing support for WELS churches, schools and called workers. Throughout the years, Weather Tight has provided its remodeling services to update the homes of hundreds of Lutheran teachers and pastors. In addition, Schulz actively supported Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School, Lakeside Lutheran High School, Shoreland Lutheran High School, Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Wisconsin Lutheran College and Trinity Lutheran Church, Caledonia.
Schulz is survived by his wife of 35 years, two sons and four grandchildren.
