Sussex
Sussex, WI, was first settled in the 1840s. By the 1880s, the village began growing significantly after the railroad came to town. Like many other railroad towns in Southeastern Wisconsin, Sussex gained many residents after the Wisconsin Central railroad was built just one mile east of the village.
Today, a sixteen-mile rail trail for walking and biking runs through Sussex. The village is also only about a thirty-minute drive from Milwaukee. Thus, residents enjoy living close to a major city and a close-knit village atmosphere.
